4th June 2026 – Coober Pedy to Wirraminna Station SA

Today we started our journey towards home.  We had planned to leave at 8:45am but everyone left earlier than us to stop for a group photograph at the Coober Pedy sign on the main highway.  We had an issue with our 12 pins plug that required a quick fix before we were certain that our blinkers on the caravan were working.

We planned to stop at Glendambo for lunch and fuel but did not know that the roadhouse was out of fuel.  Our arrival coincided with a fuel tanker, and the place was in chaos.  We were in a queue for fuel but decided to withdraw from the queue and park and then have lunch.  Two of our group waited and eventually obtained fuel.

Finishing our lunch, two of us went back to our vehicles and joined a short queue to refuel.

Leaving Glendambo, we drove the 44 kilometers to our overnight stop on a property called Wirraminna Station.  The cost was $12 per vehicle, there are no facilities other than rubbish bins and a fireplace but there is the tranquillity of the farm and the beautiful countryside.  We had several cows and one sheep visit us late in the afternoon and they stood by as we watched the sunset.

We will be cold tonight but snug in our caravan.  We are the only ones that do not have heating that does not require 240 volts.

As it was cold outside and we don’t like cooking ion the caravan, our planned cooked meal was postponed and we had sandwiches instead.

We read until 8:00pm and then decided there would be more comfort under the blankets.  For the second time this trip, we had a really early night.
