We didn’t realise how busy the Olympic Highway was as we heard the sound of vehicles for most of the night. The caravan park was indeed close to the highway.
We decided that it would be strategic to refuel at Wagga Wagga and we picked a station on the outskirts of the city. That allowed us to use a bypass route that worked a treat with us leading the way. The price of the fuel was reasonable and we even received a $0.05cpl discount for being NRMA members. That equated to a couple of dollars in savings.
Leaving Wagga and after an interruption for stopping for road works, soon we were back on the Hume Motorway heading to our morning tea stop at Jugiong.
Jugiong was busy but we managed to find a table with as little shelter from the cold. It was 15 degrees but a lot cooler with windchill.
Moving on to Gunning we found parking spots in the showground close to the exit gate nearest the township but a long way from the toilets. We had a quiet afternoon sitting and talking until the sun disappeared and the temperature reduced. Before talking, we watched the end of a match from the soccer World Cup.
At 5:30pm we headed to the Telegraph Hotel where we had booked a table. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
Returning to the caravan and without the benefit of heating, we decided that it would be best to have an early night in bed and enjoy the heat generated by the blankets. We were in bed before 8:30pm.
