We had a shower of rain overnight. We thought it was going to be cool and deployed our doona, but it was not required and we found ourselves sleeping under the sheet for part of the night.
We planned to leave the caravan park at 10:00am and we worked a system using three vehicles to transport all the group.
First stop was to Wilpena Pound where we discovered that we needed to purchase a National Parks Pass to enter the park. Cost was $11.20 per day per vehicle but there was an offer to purchase a pass for all SA National Parks valid for 2 months costing $44.50. The pass is issued to a person, not a vehicle and is perfect for our situation where we are pooling cars.
After Wilpena we visited the Cazneaux Tree, a magnificent gum tree that has been around for many many years, then the Hucks Lookout, the Stokes Hill Lookout, the Appealinna Ruins which was the remains of several house that ran sheep in the 1800’s and finally the Elder Range Lookout.
After returning to the caravan, we discovered that we did not have hot water. Our friend Peter had a look, and we could not figure why. There was also an error code when trying to start the heater with gas. We decided to wait until tomorrow and contact an agent for Truma and see if we can have it looked at later in the week.
Mucking around with the heater impacted our afternoon and we missed happy hour.
Tonight we had dinner at the Woolshed Restaurant located within the park. We were apprehensive about going but that proved to be incorrect as the meals were great. On the way to the restaurant, we discovered that one of the headlights was not working. We were having a good day!
As previously mentioned, the meals were great and we both had a chicken-based meal. The meal comprised several pieces of chicken, smashed roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cherry tomatoes and a mustard sauce. We also had great tasting deserts.
After returning to the caravan park, we discovered that a cable going to the headlight was a little loose. We played with the cable and the light started working.
Later we used Google to find out how to reset the water system as we suspect the failure may have been caused due to a power disruption. A method was found and after waiting for about 30 minutes, we had hot water again.
We watched television until later enjoying the heat generated by our air conditioning.
