24th May 2026 – Peterborough to Rawnsley Park Station SA

We set the alarm for 6:30am and got out of bed immediately it sounded.

It was dry when we readied ourselves to leave but we were in no hurry as one of our two travelling companions had to purchase groceries, the other to refuel.  We waited for one vehicle and left on the basis that the other one would catch-up.

At Orroroo we took the wrong turn following the route provided by the GPS.  It added about 40 kilometers to the trip, but we did manage to stop in Quorn and have morning tea at the Quandong Café.  As we had travelled in this direction on a previous trip to this area, the error was not immediately apparent and also we had discussed part of the route with one of our companions the previous day and believed we were going the same way as everyone else.

We were the last two of the group to arrive at Rawnsley Park and were delayed at check in.  Whilst we were going through the arrival process, the park lost electrical power.  The power was down for about 30 minutes and was later explained as a problem with SA energy.

We setup in the dry with the caravan being levelled to our satisfaction.

One of the couples went exploring finding a 4WD track to explore.  They survived but experienced very heavy rain.

We had our usual happy hour in the camp kitchen that became very busy.  There is a shortage of chairs.

We were comfortable and not far from the amenities block.  We had rain showers during the afternoon, some heavier than others.
