22nd May 2026 – Broken Hill NSW to Peterborough SA

We were up early to prepare for our departure at 9:00am.

Overnight our leak in the shower had placed a large amount of water in the shower base.  Unfortunately, the caravan was tilted away from the drain, so it was a manual process to drain the water.

During our preparation of the caravan for travel, water started to flow from the water connection inlet valve and the water was hot.  After discussion, we decided that we would address the issue later in the day.

We drove to Peterborough through to Yunta where we stopped at a roadhouse for a late morning tea or early lunch.  The countryside is beautiful and green which is a reflection on the recent rain in the area.  We saw a truck that had run off the road near a bridge, but it appeared the drive was OK.  Later we heard that the accident occurred at 4:30am and it was four fours later that emergency vehicles arrived.

After Yunta, we had to stop for a quarantine inspection and we all passed but one couple had a lettuce confiscated which was a surprise as lettuce is on the approved list of products.

It was then a short drive to Peterborough where we checked into the caravan park and chose our own sites.  After a quick setup, we drove back into Peterborough to grocery shop.

Returning to the caravan park, one of our friends had a look at our hot water and pressure was released several times.  We hope this resolves our problem, but we will not know until we depart in two days’ time.

We had happy hour in the camp kitchen before we all headed back to our RV’s.  Tonight was cold and we ran the air conditioning in heater mode.

Tonight we setup Starlink and caught up on several series we watch on Paramount.  Starlink is nothing short of fabulous, but it is not cheap and prices have recently increased.
