We heard rain for most of the night, but it had stopped before our 7:00am alarm.
According to an iPhone APP we have, the rain event for us will finish around 4pm today with no more rain on the radar. The was a little concern about the road we used to arrive at White Cliffs as we had to cross two areas where water covered the road. Hopefully that will not be the case tomorrow when we head to Broken Hill.
We had some bad news today learning of the passing of a couple who we knew through the ACC. One passed on 9 October (91yo) and his wife on the following day (90yo). Very sad and tragic for the family.
We went to the tour operator from the adventure last night and he removed the dirt from several of our stones. There is a little colour but nothing to make us a fortune.
We had intended having coffee at a café but that was closed on Mondays. We did have coffee and something to eat at the general store. We have never seen White Cliffs so quiet. We did a circuit of the whole town before returning to the caravan for lunch. (Later we would learn that White Cliffs was very quiet as a result of the death and funeral for a young person).
It continued to rain for most of the afternoon, “she” played cards whilst “he” worked on the ACC member magazine, The Nomad. having received a report for inclusion.
We had our happy hour in the camp kitchen and by the time we finished, the rain had stopped and there was evidence that the cloud was disappearing. During happy hour, it was mentioned that the local hotel had a lamb roast for tea, so we all decided to attend.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that the lamb roast was the previous day, but we all decided to stay and order food from their normal menu. There were no complaints about the food and after spending a little time talking over a drink, we all returned to our campsite.
The nights are slowly cooling, and the sheet has now been supplemented with a blanket.
