We had another warm night and for some reason, we both woke about 4:00am.
We managed to go back to sleep until the alarm sounded at 7:00am. A couple of presses on the snooze button saw us get up just before 7:15am.
We had made arrangement to transport our friends today for a look around Cairns. We didn’t realise the size of the city which has a population of over 171,000 people.
Our drive around Cairns first took us to “The Esplanade”, a road that runs along the foreshore. Parking was at a premium, but we managed to locate a tight spot for a 15-minute look at Cairns from the beach. Due to many reasons, you do not swim at the beach and the state of the beach was testament to that. Due to the proximity of the Great Barrier Reef, surf was non-existent with very still water. The tide was on the way out and the scene was not you would expect from this location.
After departing “The Esplanade”, we continued our trip around Cairns by driving through the CBD and then to the marina area where we stopped to take pictures from a different angle. Next stop was to a shopping centre where He managed to purchase another pair of light shorts. He brought a couple of pairs of demin shorts for the trip and these shorts have proved to be very hot.
After lunch at the shopping centre, we drove to Campbells Lookout where we were afforded a panoramic view of Cairns.
After returning to the caravan park, He tried to fix a broken marker light on the Navara. This task proved to be impossible, so the remaining light was disabled.
He also rang the operator of the planned flight to the tip and further discussion regarding options will take place over the weekend,
We had our usual happy hour and that was followed by purchasing pizza for our evening meal. Returning from purchasing the pizza, the low fuel light came on so that required another trip out to purchase fuel.
We watched television for a short period of time before an early night in bed as we have an early start tomorrow.
