30 May 2025 – Cairns Qld

We had an early pickup by bus for a cruise, so we set the alarm for 6:00am.  Rain that was forecast for 4:00am did not happen.  However, there were a few drops of rain around when we went to the amenities block.

At 8:30am, seven members of our group were collected by bus and transported to the facilities where we checked-in for a cruise by Sunlover Reef Tours.  We had to wait until 9:45am to board the vessel that was scheduled for a 10:15am departure.  The trip to the reef took 90 minutes over about 50 kilometers. Group members attending the reef trip were JP & EP, HB & CB, TM & RM, JC & MC, GW & LMc, PD and MB.

Once clear of the harbour, we were warned that there might be rough seas and the warning was correct.  We pitched and rolled, and many people (none of our group) were sick.  The rough seas only stopped when we reached our destination which was a pontoon moored at Moore Reef.  We were offered many activities including several paid ones. He went snorkelling over the reef and we enjoyed a trip on a glass bottom boat and a semi-submersible boat.  Lunch was included.

We returned to port arriving at 5:15am and were collected a bus for the return journey to our camp site.

We had cold chicken for our evening meal and television until an early night in bed.
