Once again, the night was hot, and we ran the air conditioning. It rained overnight but we did not hear the rain.
Today was a relocation day with only 80 or so kilometers to travel to our next stop at Cairns.
Access to the Cairns caravan park was after 11:00am so we had no need to hurry to depart. Yesterday we did not connect water, and wastewater was allowed to be dropped onto the ground.
One of the other couples had a health issue related to dehydration. He had not drunk much water yesterday and had paid for it overnight. The issue was solved with the ingestion of many cups of water.
We left around 10:00am with the GPS indicating an arrival time of 11:15am. The traffic was light, and we managed to travel a little slowed than the speed limit. We arrived at our destination, the NRMA Cairns Holiday Park, just before 11:30am.
We were allocated a site that required a little patience with navigating through narrow roads but once we arrived at the site, we had no problems in placing the caravan exactly where we wanted it. All members of our group are location close to each other.
Our setup was undertaken in extremely hot conditions. Whilst the temperature was 31 degrees, the humidity is the killer. We also extended our awning and hopefully secured it firmly to the ground.
After lunch, we took advantage of the caravan park laundry and did a bit of washing. After She hung up the washing, we left the caravan park and travelled to Coles where we were able to purchase water and a chicken for our evening meal. We returned to the campsite just in time for happy hour.
One of the other couples visited a tourist information site and gathered a lot of information about cruises to the Great Barrier Reef. We discussed options and agreed we would book a tour for Friday. A call was made but we learnt we needed to do individual booking, so He offered to get a computer and organise the on-line bookings. We booked for ourselves and several other members of the group.
We had chicken and salad for tea before sitting down to watch the State of Origin rugby league game on the internet. NSW was the winner of the first game of the 2025 series, winning by 18 to 6.
