28 June 2025 – Nindigully Qld to Moree NSW

Unlike the previous night, we didn’t go to bed early but by our normal standards, it was not late as we wanted to keep warm as we do not have any heating when we free camp.  We had a restless night as the temperature did not drop as we expected.  Yesterday the temperature inside the caravan was 6 degrees when we got up, today it was 15 degrees.

We used the caravan facilities and opened the door just after 8:00am to prepare for a departure around 8:30am.  Not long after going outside, one of the group approached to inform us that due to a medical reason, they were leaving today to return to Sydney.  Soon after we said goodbye to Norm and Jan and wished them a safe trip home.

We left Nindigully in a group of three and we were joined by two other members of our group a short time later.  Another member had left a little earlier planning to stop at Thallon to look at some silo art.  Our group returned to three when the last two in our little convoy also left at Tallon to look at the silo art.

We drove through to Moree but had to stop twice, once to reconnect the 12-pin plug between the car and the caravan and the second time to reconnect with the other two members who had continued when we stopped.

We crossed the border into NSW at Mungindi where the rough roads continued to be part of our journey.

There was some confusion when we arrived at the Gwydir Caravan Park as a couple of our group were not booked in.  We informed them of the sites that had been allocated, and the problem appeared to be rectified.

The sites at the caravan park are narrow and you must wait while other travellers’ manoeuvre there rigs onto the sites.  We waited about 10 minutes before we could access our site.

Today he had a look at the problem with the 12-pin plug and the reason for the connection issue was identified.  He tried to fix the problem, but we will have to wait until we return to Sydney to complete the fix.

Our setup was eventually completed, and we had lunch.

Quite a few of our group visited the thermal pools while we went and refuelled the car and did a “swap & go” on a gas bottle.

We had an early happy hour where we decided to go out for breakfast tomorrow.  There is a café on-site, so we planned to order our breakfast today to reduce the wait tomorrow.  The breakfast menu was quite extensive, and we chose favourite meals for tomorrow.

We used food in the freezer tonight and watched television for a couple of hours after finishing our evening meal.
