The stars were out last night, and we experienced a dew which kept the temperature down. We still slept with a light blanket and we both had a good sleep having gone to bed around 11:00pm.
The alarm sounded at 6:45am and the sun was up when we stuck our heads out of the door.
We had arranged to pick up friends at 8:45am and head to the planned location of our adventure today. To carry passengers, we have the content of the rear seats packed into boxes to allow a quick transition from packed with our trip gear to be able to carry another two passengers. As he started to remove boxes, another friend informed us that she was taking her car and was happy to convey the friends we were intending to transport.
We all left the caravan park and turned left onto Steve Urwin Way and headed to our destination that we arrived at 4 minutes later. Most of the group visited the Australia Zoo which today we crossed off our bucket list.
I could go into a lot of dialogue to describe the experience but let’s summarise by saying that in our opinion, Australia Zoo is the best in this country.
We had close encounters with koalas (did not have to pay as is the case in other zoos), close encounters with friendly kangaroos, saw the tiger show, saw alligators, saw birds being fed and finally had a great lunch before entering the Crocoseum to watch their Wildlife Warriors Show.
The Wildlife Warriors Show included a display of birds in flight, dingos, snakes and finally a crocodile. The show was excellent. Finally, we spent some time looking at all the crocodiles in their pens that are used in the Wildlife Warriors Show. We took a lot of pictures today and they will serve as a great memory of the visit to the zoo.
We left just after 3:00pm and drove to a lookout where we had a great view of the Glass House Mountains.
We returned to the caravan park after refuelling to enjoy a latish happy hour with the members of our group.
Salad for our evening meal then television until late.
