We heard the rain fall for what seemed to be most of the night.
When we opened the blinds after breakfast, the sun was shining brightly. Hopefully we have seen the last of the wet weather whilst we are staying in the Flinders Ranges.
Touch wood, our hot water is still working and due to very low water pressure in the park, we do not have our leak in the shower recess.
Today we planned to leave in three vehicles and travel to Blinman then through the Parachilna Gorge for lunch at the Prairie Hotel. Leaving just after 9:30am, we took the lead with the first stop being the Wall of China. We had to ascend a steep hill to get to the viewing area. The Nissan Navara is being put to the test with high range and low range 4WD being used on several occasions.
Leaving The Wall of China, we continued onto Blinman where we stopped for coffee. We had a quick look around the small village before heading towards Parachilna. One of the couples asked the visitor information centre about the road conditions and were told to proceed carefully and stay away from the edges.
We have driven this road before and this time we felt that the scenery was more spectacular following recent rain. We felt that there was less water in the crossing (Parachilna Gorge) but there were more water crossing since our last visit.
All our group were impressed with the scenery.
We stopped at the Prairie Hotel for lunch. Asking for seats in the restaurant, we were told we needed a booking as the hotel had several bus tours arriving. We were able to find a table outside of the restaurant and we stayed there until a bus tour arrived. As far as the food was concerned, we had mixed reactions.
We returned to the caravan park via Hawker after several water crossing where the main road was flooded. We refuelled in Hawker.
We had our usual happy hour in the camp kitchen before retiring for the evening. As we had a large lunch, we had a simple lite tea.
Tonight we watched the State of Origin. Just after the game started, the screen froze. It didn’t take long to work out we had reached the 100gb level on our Starlink account. We immediately changed our plan to unlimited, and it took a few minutes before the service resumed to a satisfactory level. With the score being 20 nil in favour of QLD, we started to lose interest but that was only for a short time with NSW running down the lead and finally winning the game.
Tonight was the first night where we went to sleep with the doona pulled up.
