Having a free day to explore, we set the alarm for 7:00am. It was warm overnight, so we left the air conditioning running all night.
We had made arrangements with friends to start exploring from 9:30am so we all piled into the car and drove into the Townsville CBD and beyond. Beyond was the iconic “The Strand” where we were able to find a parking spot and then walk to a recommended coffee shop called “Juliette’s” where we enjoyed a beverage and a delicious gelato ice cream.
At the café, we met several other members of our group also out looking for coffee. The cafe visit was followed by a walk on the walking path along “The Strand”.
Leaving the Townsville precinct, we returned to a shopping centre near the caravan park so our friends could purchase some additional clothing due to the higher than expected temperatures. We had lunch at another café and returned to the caravan park to prepare for our departure tomorrow.
Another happy hour followed by a light tea. He received a message on Facebook from an old neighbour in Sydney who moved to Cairns in 2020. Arrangements will be made to meet them for coffee once we arrive in Cairns.Television and showers in the caravan before heading to bed. The air conditioning once again was the tool that kept the caravan at a reasonable temperature and our sanity intact as we do not like the heat
