It is getting colder but we were still comfortable overnight. Even when walking to the toilet block at 6:45am it was comfortable but as the sun rose, it appeared to get colder.
The next couple of days are relocation days as we move into NSW and the final part of the trip.
After saying our farewell to Peter, Kate and Benny the dog, we departed closed to 9:00am (two had already departed) for the 190k drive to our next stop, an overnighter, at Mitchell at the Neil Turner Weir free camp. We had a brief stop for a walk at Morven and to look at a house built of tin drums. We arrived at the campsite before lunch and after finding an appropriate site, we had lunch. This camp site is enormous and there were countless opportunities to find a suitable site to stop. Possibly we have the most level caravan since starting this trip with ramps placed under the rear wheels of the car to raise the front of the caravan.
We have no television, but we do have reasonable internet via the antenna we can attach to our router. We had a quiet afternoon with happy hour starting at 3:00pm as we were all aware of the reducing temperature including a forecast low overnight of minus 3 degrees.
During the afternoon we had several discussions about the route we will take tomorrow. There are conflicting routes depending on what device and software you use. We planned to turn right at Mitchell and head to St George whereas other software packages are saying to head to Roma and then turn right. Our planned route is significantly shorter so we will see what happens tomorrow.
Several members of the group visited Mitchell, and one couple took advantage of hot springs after visiting a museum.
We had the remainder of a chicken and salad for our evening meal and after making sure we had adequate water for the morning (-3 can freeze pipes), we headed to the warmth of our bed.
