We have continued with the 6:30am alarm however, today we pressed the snooze button twice.
With no real plan for today other than an adventure booked for the afternoon, we had decided to get into the car with our friends and. Simply drive to see where the road would take us.
We departed the caravan park just after 9:00am and did a quick tour of the town looking for the caravan park we stayed in many years ago. We eventually found the park and then realised how small it was. Continuing our drive, we were looking for the Royal Flying Doctor base, so we drove to the terminal building at the airport. No base could be found. Reverting to a Google search, we were soon on the way to the RFDS base and a quick look in their visitor’s centre. We received a call from another friend and his partner, and they soon joined us for coffee back at the airport terminal.
Next stop was for some photography followed by another stop at a liquor store to purchase some drinks for us and our friends who were travelling with us did the same.
We returned to the caravan park for lunch and then returned to Charleville for a visit to the Cosmos Centre. Each too and back from Charleville to the caravan park is a 20k round trip.
Checking in at the Cosmos Centre we found our booking was for three plus 1. We were booked to have a look at the sun through a special telescope which was one of only a dozen in the world. The telescope had been purchased several years ago with a grant for a modest amount of money, but we were told it is currently worth a medium six figure amount.
We saw the sun having several viewings through the telescope with two lenses. We also had the opportunity to obtain a picture, He used a camera, and She used a mobile phone. All considering, the pictures were not that bad. We stayed at the Cosmos Centre for well over an hour looking at some meteorites before leaving.
We refuelled the Navara, did some more grocery shopping and returned to the caravan park. Once again, we returned into Charleville where we had dinner at the RSL club. The reason for the dinner was that one couple that joined our adventure at Coff Harbour would be leaving for home tomorrow. A tree is to be removed from their backyard, so their presence is required.
After returning to our camp site, He repacked the car (we had removed the contents from the back seat to accommodate our friends) before having a shower and hitting the bed. The temperature is dropping so it looks like we need to transition to our winter wardrobe sooner than later.
