I said yesterday that we kept warm in the cooling conditions. Well, those cooling conditions stopped, and we ended up having a warmish night even to the point where we threw blankets off for a short time.
The alarm sounded at 6:30am about 5 minutes after we had got up. Today was a movement day with our group relocating to Winton which was about 220klm away.
At 9:00am, we left as a group of three but that soon expanded into five. We had the lead and for the first half and a bit of the trip, the road was shocking. We had been warned that the road was undulating but that was an understatement. We started at a speed of 90kph but very quickly that came down to 75kph.
We stopped just over halfway to stretch our legs and finally arrived at Winton just after midday. Our stay in Winton was at the Winton Wanderers Caravan Park which is located about 2klm out of town on the Cloncurry Road. The park is relatively new and has a great layout with most sites being drive through and facilities located in the correct place. The managers had allocated eight adjacent sites for us, and we were given the option to choose our own.
The setup was quick and soon after we were eating lunch. A couple of our group had issues in finding the park, but everyone had arrived by 1:30pm.
We shopped in the afternoon mainly for milk, but we did purchase a chicken for our evening meal. After returning to the caravan park, we returned to Winton and visited the gift shop in the Banjo Patterson Centre, had a look at a gem (opal) shop, and purchased a DVD from a general store.
For the first time, we had a happy hour over several locations. There is no Optus service in the area so it is impossible to send an SMS that everyone will receive.
A lot of our group had their evening meal at a hotel in Winton and then went to an outdoor cinema where they watch some old content (The Three Stooges). We played cards with our friends after our meal before retiring to the caravan for showers and sleep.
