11 June 2025 – Cooktown to Tolga (near Atherton) Qld

Today we departed Cooktown and far north Queensland to start our journey towards home and to commence the second leg of our tagalong, the Dinosaur Trail.

We are getting better in preparing for departure and after rising at 6:30am and taking our time, we were ready to leave well before 9:00am.

We were part of a group of three vehicles departing together.  Other than a couple of idiot drivers who pass on double lines, we had a safe trip through to Mount Molloy where we stopped for lunch.

The café we stopped at was run by a lady with the counter open to the street.  You could not go inside the café.  The menu was very limited but the food we purchased was very nice.  We both had enchiladas for lunch and were surprised how nice they were.

Leaving Mount Molloy, we travelled to our free camp at the Rocky Creek Rest Area where we all grouped together.

We enjoyed a happy hour together before retreating for the night.  Finally, we will have a night where we do not need to run the air conditioning, but it is likely we will need to break out the doona instead.

When looking at Facebook, we were saddened to read of the passing of a member from the old Winnebago Club.  RIP Barry, you will be missed by many, but you will still be in our memories.
