The alarm sounded at 6:30am and we pressed the snooze button until 7:00am.
Today arrangements had been made for most of the group to visit Mossman Gorge. We departed at 9:30am. Access to the gorge is only by bus at a return cost of $17.50 per person.
After riding to the gorge, we went on a walk that showed us the tropical rainforest and the river running through the gorge. We spend about an hour walking before returning to the visitor centre for lunch.
After lunch we returned to Port Douglas where we shopped at Coles.
Later in the afternoon, Greg from Daintree Air called and explained that he would have access to a non-air-conditioned bus to transport us from Bamaga to “The Tip” if we still wanted to go. The trip is still subject to weather. At our happy hour, we discussed the proposal as a group, and we all agreed that the priority was to get to the destination by a flight at an altitude of 500 feet and how we got from the airport to the destination was secondary. Greg was informed so now the flight is subject to weather conditions.
We all headed back into Port Douglas township for our evening meal which had been booked at the community club called the Tin Shed. Our meal booking was for 7:30pm so we enjoyed a drink beforehand. The meal services were very slow with most meal appearing after 8:30pm but everyone enjoyed what they had ordered. Both of us ordered seafood chowder which was nice but a little different to what we expected. During this meal we celebrated the birthday of two of our group, John C and Linda McK. Each was provided with a suitable cake.
It was after 10:00pm when we returned to the caravan park. We had intended to refuel on the way but the service station in Port Douglas was closed, and mother nature suggested to us that we drove immediately home rather than stopping at the service station closest to the caravan park.
