We had another warm night but leaving the air conditioning running made the night comfortable.
With less than 60 kilometers to travel and access to our next stop not available before 11:00am, we were in no hurry to leave Cairns. With time to spare, we did a slow pack-up and left the caravan park just before 9:45am. One member of our group remained behind hoping to have his air conditioning unit fixed in the coming days.
The trip to Port Douglas followed the coastline and there were occasions where the beach and the Pacific Ocean were only meters away from the road. The scenery was specular as we travelled a narrow and windy road with a lot of roadwork being undertaken.
We arrived at the Big 4 Glengarry Holiday Park at 11:00am and eventually got onto our site when other members of our group cleared the roadway.
The setup process was done relatively quickly as it was hot outside. After finishing the setup, he spoke with another couple about a proposed flight to the tip of Cape York. They called the operator who did not paint a promising picture about the trip, and he asked for us to decide if we still wished to go or cancel now. He sent a text message to the group requesting a meeting in the afternoon. He also managed to get our television working from a supplied cable in the caravan park.
We had wraps for lunch and then attended the meeting about the flight. Based on the information we provided, the group agreed to cancel the flight and as call was made to the operator. Once we informed the operator of our decision, he changes tact and said we should wait a couple of days to see what happens with the weather. We agreed to do so. This meeting then moved into a discussion on activities at Port Douglas and before we knew it, that meeting transitioned into a happy hour.
We went into Port. Douglas and purchased our evening meal (fish and chips) before she joined other members to play games and he wrote this blog entry and watched television. It was agreed that we go to a crocodile farm tomorrow.
