3 May 2017 – Canberra ACT to Sydney NSW

We were up fairly early and departed the caravan park just after 8:00am.

In splendid weather conditions we had an uneventful return trip to Sydney (with one exception) arriving home just after midday.

The one exception involved two tourist coaches near Mittagong.  Coach number one was travelling at 100kph when coach number two decided . . . → Read More: 3 May 2017 – Canberra ACT to Sydney NSW

We woke to an overcast day however, the forecast did not include rain.

Today we planned on a visit to Parliament House and also a visit to the National Museum of Australia.  If time permitted, we also hoped to visit the National Film & Sound Archive.

Being undecided in what order we would visit, . . . → Read More: 2 May 2017 – Canberra ACT

30 April 2017 – Canberra ACT

We decided to purchase breakfast at the caravan park and as a result, we enjoyed juice, bacon & eggs, bread and coffee.  The cost, very reasonable for a buffet.

We then made arrangements to visit some other friends in Canberra (they also had joined us on our big adventure last year).   With a . . . → Read More: 30 April 2017 – Canberra ACT

29 April 2017 – Gundagai NSW to Canberra ACT

We awoke to fog.  In fact, we drove from Gundagai to Yass before the fog finally lifted.

There was very little traffic on the road and we had sufficient visibility to travel at a reasonable speed.

We stopped in Murrumbateman to see friends who had travelled with us last year.  We spent a couple . . . → Read More: 29 April 2017 – Gundagai NSW to Canberra ACT

28 April 2017 – Shepparton VIC to Gundagai NSW

It was certainly not as cold as it had been in Victoria and that allowed us to have a good night’s sleep.

We a reasonable drive of around 350 k’s in front of us, we were on the road by 9:00am.  Our GPS decided to bypass the Shepparton CBD and we had a very . . . → Read More: 28 April 2017 – Shepparton VIC to Gundagai NSW

27 April 2017 – Ballarat to Shepparton VIC

With the combination of having committed to purchase a new car and a poor weather forecast for the next week in the area we intended to visit, it was not difficult to make a decision to start to return home.

26 April 2017 – Ballarat VIC

We had a couple of very heavy showers overnight and we assume the rain was associated with a cold front that passed through the state.  We understand that heavy snow has fallen on the Victorian high country and the cold air has resulted in rain hitting the ground in the form of very small . . . → Read More: 26 April 2017 – Ballarat VIC

The rain came down for most of the night but the thunderstorms that were forecast did not occur.  Nor did we get any hail.

There was a lull in the rain that allowed us both to use the camps amenities shortly after we got up.

As today was ANZAC Day, we . . . → Read More: 25 April 2017 – Ballarat VIC

24 April 2017 – Bendigo to Ballarat VIC

The weather forecast for today was mixed with fine weather for the morning then rain developing later in the afternoon.

Due to the rain experienced since we arrived in Bendigo coupled with relatively bare sites in the caravan park, our hoses were covered in wet dirt.  “He” invested time to clean everything . . . → Read More: 24 April 2017 – Bendigo to Ballarat VIC

The rain had stopped when we ventured from our bed and we had made the right decision to leave our walking tour of Bendigo until today.

With the sky still overcast but dry, we drove into Bendigo and were able to find a parking spot in one of the city’s main streets.

18 April 2017 – Wagga Wagga to Kerang VIC

Most of the preparation for our departure had been completed yesterday.  The major obstacle in leaving was a motorhome parked a little over 6m from the front of the van and that made it virtually impossible to line-up straight.

Nevertheless, after breakfast we managed to hitch the caravan and after bidding farewell . . . → Read More: 18 April 2017 – Wagga Wagga to Kerang VIC
