4 June 2016 – Lake Hart to Coober Pedy SA

It was cold overnight but we slept very well.  Whilst we were not far from a main Highway (Stuart) and the main railway line (to Darwin & Perth), we heard very little noise.  Lake Hart was a great place for an overnight stop.

Our destination today was Coober Pedy, a drive a little over 300k’s.

We had planned to stop for fuel at Glendambo but “He” decided to test the range of the Navara’s fuel tank.  The trip would be close to what we believed is the maximum range of the vehicle.  Whilst this was a gamble, we did have 14 litres of reserve fuel in a jerry can and there appeared to be little wind.

Outback South Australia is currently green.  Roadkill is at a minimum and there is a lot of traffic heading north.  We completed the trip without fuss and with fuel for an additional 80k’s still in the tank.

Arriving at our overnight stay, the Stuart Ranges Outback Resort at Coober Pedy, at 12:50pm, we were soon “booked in” and on our site.

“He” made arrangements for a plane flight to Lake Eyre and the Painted Desert and then we took friends on a quick tour of the tour.

We enjoyed happy hour before ordering pizza for our evening meal.

We have great television reception so “He” was able to watch AFL in the evening.
