5 June 2007 – Kings Canyon

“She” had a mild does of flu and woke at 4.00am for a “cough” and a quick comfort stop.  The alarm was set for 7.00am but we elect to stay in bed and got up just after 8.00am.

After breakfast, we headed to Kings Canyon but stopped at the resort café for a quick coffee ($9.20 for a flat white and ice coffee but when you have a monopoly………………).

At Kings Canyon, we prepared for a lengthy walk as the Rim walk is estimated to take 3.5 hours whilst the canyon walk takes about 1 hour.   “He” started the climb the hill for the Rim walk but turned back due to concerns with his knee and also the strength of the wind.  It was almost blowing a gale.  We decided on the canyon walk and took our time and walked to the viewing platform for Kings Canyon.Very spectacular.  After returning to the motor-home, we stopped for lunch and then drove part way down the road to Hermansberg to take some pictures.

Upon returning to the Resort, we both had showers (local knowledge that there is no hot water late in the day) before setting down for a lazy afternoon.

Tea consisted of sausages, bacon & eggs – we had to as we were conscious of all the “use by” dates.
